What is the Perfect Amount of Sugar Intake for a Human Body

The human body contains approximately 5 liters of blood. This amounts to 4 grams of sugar in the blood, which is less than a teaspoon of sugar! The American Diabetes Association draws the line between a healthy individual and someone being pre-diabetic at 100 mg/dl. This 100 mg/dl amounts to about 1 teaspoon. It is very important to make the distinction between added sugars and sugars that occur naturally in foods like fruits and vegetables. These are healthy foods that contain water, fiber and various micronutrients.

Naturally occurring sugars are absolutely fine, but the same does not apply to added sugar. Added sugar is the main ingredient in candy and the sugar you buy online. Added sugars (or added sweeteners) can include natural sugars such as white sugar, brown sugar and honey as well as other caloric sweeteners that are chemically manufactured such as high fructose corn syrup.

Normal Blood Sugar-
Normal blood sugar varies from person to person, but a normal range for fasting blood sugar (the amount of glucose in your blood six to eight hours after a meal) is between 70 and 100 milligrams per deciliter. For most individuals, the level of glucose in the blood rises after meals. A normal blood-sugar range after eating is between 135 and 140 milligrams per deciliter.

Sugar receives blame for many health problems, but without it, your body would cease to function properly. Dietitians and physicians suggest, it is not entirely bad to eat dishes made with raw sugar that you buy online, but you need to maintain a limit. A healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean not consuming sugar at all as it may trigger other serious health issues, but you need to be cautious. Recently the World Health Organization recommended that for optimal health we should restrict our added ‘free sugar’ intake to just 25 grams or 6 teaspoons a day.
